Who loves the computer already?

11 months! (Yesterday...)

I was a slacker and didn't post anything yesterday on her actual 11 month birthday--I was still recovering from Peter's birthday weekend in Vegas (no, Maya did not accompany us!). We had a great time, but it was nice to get home.

Maya has been developing a little willpower...good for her. Frustrating for her parents ;) She definitely lets us know if she doesn't want to go in her high chair, stroller or be put down from our arms. On the other hand, she is so adventurous! Last week, she was playing at an indoor playground and went crawling right through a 5 foot tunnel-no encouragement or anything. She crawls right up to people to say "hi!".

No signs of walking-she's adept at crawling, pulling up, etc-and can stand for a little bit, but is too unsure of herself to do it. I think she figures she can get wherever she wants with crawling, so why bother with the walking?

Dinner made difficult...

Maya has found a new form of entertaining herself..unfortunately it makes her actually eating pretty difficult:



However, I think the end result is the fostering of a beautiful friendship between Maya and Ajax. He clearly puts up with all her ear pulling, eye poking and crawling all over him because he gets some good grub at the end of the day.

Maya is such a little ham nowadays. She loves to flirt with pretty much anyone and will smile and laugh until everyone smiles and laughs back at her.

She's been getting more comfortable cruising while holding on to furniture and is standing for a couple of seconds on her own.

Playgroup Mania

On Saturday we had 9 families from our playgroup over for a potluck BBQ. Yup, thats about 20 adults and 10 children. Don't ask me what I was thinking. However, I think a good time was had by all (even if it was a bit chaotic).

Bathing suit modeling!

Here are a last few pictures from our trip to visit the Raps/Berlows. Maya was loving just hanging out outside in her bathing suit-don't worry-she wasn't out there long and she had plenty of sunscreen on!







Also, she's had quite a few accomplishments in the last week or so:

1. Definitely cruising a little bit (ie. holding on to something and taking steps-either side to side or pushing her little activity table and walking behind it).

2. Pulling herself up on anything and everything.

3. Saying "A-ja" whenever she sees Ajax.

4. Making conversation in the form of zzrbrts.

5. Playing peekabo with Buster while she's in her high chair.

6. The arrival of one of her top front teeth..but not the other one. She's got the top right tooth and the one next to that. But no sign of the ones to the left!

She's growing up so fast! We're in countdown mode 'til her first birthday! Crazy!

Fashion Statements and other pictures...

I remember reading about a year ago that leggings were coming into fashion. I also remember thinking-"Yikes!". A magazine did say, "If you wore leggings the first time around, don't be tempted by this trend". Well, Maya wasn't around the first time, so she is allowed-and I think she looks pretty cute in them!

Beach Bum..

Maya had her second trip to the beach yesterday. The first was in Florida, back when she was 4 months old, so she had a lot more fun this time. She found the sand particularly interesting, but only tried to eat it 3 times. She dipped her toes in the water, but hasn't taken a full swim yet.

10 Months!

So Maya is 10 months today! We're in East Hampton with Dziadek and Wai Po celebrating..we are even certain that she said Dziadek today! Babcia is coming tomorrow, so Maya will have the whole family to take care of her-maybe I'll even be able to relax!

Meeting the Cousins!

We went on a whirlwind trip to Chicago this weekend-Paul, Karin & the kids were visiting for a few days before they head up to Charlevoix-unfortunately, we can't go to Charlevoix because of Peter's work-darn job always getting in the way!

It was great for all the kids to be together-and Maya loved being around her cousins! We did some shopping, hung out at the Brookfield Zoo and Peter went to a Cubs game with Paul and Jack, like last year.

Here are a couple pictures from this weekend..I should have gotten more, but my hands were always full ;)





Maya being with her cousins and having so much fun reminded me of how much I enjoyed being with my cousins when I was little too-and I still do! I wish we all lived closer!

She keeps me busy!

Maya is into everything! She's learned the cause and effect of pushing buttons to make noise, she loves to bounce up and down to music, she's learned to open drawers, pull books off bookshelves, pull toys out of a bin, and generally create havoc!

Amy, Mike & Abby have been visiting-Mike went off with Peter to Vegas, leaving all of us girls here to fend for ourselves. We're managing--if not a bit tired!

I see another tooth coming in-its to the right of the top two center teeth. I think it will break through any day.
