Reston Petting Zoo

Margaux, Grace, Maya and I travelled to the far off land of Reston yesterday to visit the Reston Zoo. We went on a "zoofari" ride which was somewhat traumatizing--we saw a 1/2 hour old baby deer get kicked by a zebra. However, we quickly recovered and Maya had the most fun hanging out with and feeding the baby goats, sheep and lamb as well as a little piggy. For what it's worth, piggies say "La la la!" in Maya's world. We also discovered that sheep really do say Baa.

Here are some pics:

Martha's Vineyard...

We had a great time in Martha's Vineyard with the Karafotas Family..unfortunately Maya got sick for the first couple of days that we were there, but she perked up by Sunday and had a great time playing with her cousins. We even got out to see some neighs, which was great--Maya even kissed one! Her cousins rode the horses, but Maya wasn't quite ready to do that.

Maya fell asleep in her stroller the first day-should have been the first sign things weren't right:

Later, we found a horse more her size:

We just got back from Martha's Vineyard and have a few pictures to post, but I had to get this one on here-it was taken on the jetway when we were boarding our flight to Boston...

This dog is quite strange...

He didn't want to move when I was making the bed...he's literally tucked in. Oh, and this was about 20 minutes ago and he's still laying like that in the bedroom as I type...

"That's what summer is all about"...

That's what a passerby said today while Maya was enjoying a cold treat in Leesburg (ie. the place where the whole family scores Polo shirts)...

Big Girl Bed...

Maya has moved up in the world. This is what happens when your idea of toddler fun is to jump out of your crib in no time flat and to give your parents a heart attack on a nightly basis when they hear a thump and then the pitter patter of feet. Or they hear some rustling in your room and when they arrive you are hanging on the outside of your crib...

PS. Note the two Elmos, one horse and one to two pacis..these are necessary for sleeping in a big girl bed.

Playgroup Fun

Maya's had a bunch of fun excursions this week:

On Tuesday we hit the Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately, it was really hot and there were no ducks outside, so Maya was a bit cranky..

On Wednesday we had playgroup at Wendy and Lilly's house. Lilly has lots of fun toys including dress up jewelry:

On Friday we hit up the Nature Center where we got to see an owl, some turtles and snakes and play in an old American Indian canoe:

Fountains of Fun!

Abby, Amy, Maya and I trekked up to Chevy Chase this morning for a little shopping and stumbled upon a little fountain when we were trying to entertain the kiddos a bit before lunch. Apparently Maya found this extremely entertaining-so much though that we had to get to BabyGap afterwards to buy her a new, dry outfit!

Holiday Weekend...

We had a nice relaxing weekend with the Igers this week, including a trip to the Zoo, 2Amys and some yummy cookout dinners. We also hit the local playgrounds...

Happy 4th of July...

We had a little BBQ, but no fireworks...it was rainy and the girls went to sleep before they started. They did wear matching outfits though..this is the closest I could get to a picture of the two of them together in them:

Going for a wagon ride this afternoon:

Fun with Ajax:

Abby and Maya go to Clemyjontri...

The Igers are in town for their annual fourth of July visit and we decided to take the kids to Clemyjontri yesterday for a little play time. Unfortunately, it was REALLY hot out there with no shade, so we didn't stay too long, but I snapped a couple of pictures of the girls before we left:
