In Transit...

No picture updates today..but just a little news on our relocation.

We are officially out of our house in Evanston-the movers came on Monday and got (almost) everything out after working for 12 hours--yikes! I guess we have a lot of stuff. Peter, Maya, Ajax, Kona and I drove to DC on Tuesday afternoon..Maya slept practically the whole time! Maya and I spent a day in DC and then came to New York to hang with Dziadek and WaiPo for a few days until Sunday. We close on Tuesday!

It's all very exciting that it is coming together and we can't wait to get settled in..

Sleepy Sunday...

I was working in our office, trying to get some things organized and packed and I went into the bedroom to show Peter a picture I found..and this is what I saw:

Get up already kids--we've got work to do!

Stylish Baby...

We took some pictures this morning of Maya in her new shirt that Babcia got her..she was quite the little ham-she loves flirting with her dad..

This one is from yesterday..and incidentally she is wearing another shirt that Babcia bought for her...guess that love of shopping and clothes runs in the family!

Today wasn't all that fun--we just did a bunch of errands and packing tasks, including, but not limited to, setting up our storage space in the basement, taking my car in for service, turning in Peter's leased car and having one last lunch at Hackney's, onion loaf and all.

We're off to make a meal out of what we can find in our cupboards...

Live Action Video!

Well, we've entered a new realm of showing off little Maya. This video was taken today and shows her sheer genius..next thing we know, she'll be reciting Shakespeare.

Maya had her 6 month check up today..she weighed in at 17 lbs 1 oz. Um, she's just a few ounces from tripling her birth weight..which is a marker pediatricians like to see by the end of the first year! She is 26.5 inches long. Her stats are between 75-90th percentile.

Maya has been enjoying sweet potatoes and will venture into new and exciting territory of carrots today! Big appetite? check! Likes to sleep? check! Spoiled rotten? check! This child is certainly related to us :)

As for the big move..it's happening next week! On Monday the movers will come to pick up our stuff while Peter drives the big car and the dogs to the east coast. From there we'll stay with Dziadek and WaiPo for a few days until we can move into the new house. It's a pain in the arse, but we'll all be happy to be together again.

Holy Moly! 6 Months Already??

Where has the time gone? I feel like it was just yesterday that we were amazed we had made it to 6 days..and then 6 weeks. She's growing up, my little girl!
She's spending a good amount of time sitting on her own. She's reaching for stuff. She's putting it in her mouth. The usual baby stuff :)
Here are some pictures from this morning:

Holding her own bottle:

In other news..here is a picture of our new house!:

The movers are coming at the beginning of next week and we hope to be moving in by the end of the first week of April :) We have a great space for guests, so I hope we can get many visitors--plan your trip now!

A little Update...

Well, I don't want to jinx anything, but I think we have a house! Our contract was accepted on Tuesday evening and everything seems to be going great..we have our inspection tomorrow and will close on April 5th, if not earlier. This is all great news and we are going to be back together as a family soon!

Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon..

Congratulations Amy & Mike!

Here are some pics of Abigail Grace (Abby)..she is so cute! Maya can't wait to meet her and chat about all sorts of girl stuff and how weird their moms are..

P.S. I am not taking credit for these pictures :) Mike took them--they are in Boston and I am in D.C. (for a few days), so we'll have to wait a little while to meet the little girl..

Babcia was here!

Babcia was here this weekend and we had lots of fun. We hung out in the city a little bit on Friday and then relaxed up near Evanston on Saturday and Sunday. It was nice to relax, have some yummy home cooked meals and hang out.

Tomorrow morning Maya and I are headed out to DC again. Peter has found two houses that he likes and he needs the expert to come in and make a decision ;) Hopefully I will come back to Evanston later this week with a house in DC!

We did get some good news last week. After our realtor, Mike, listed the house on Monday afternoon we got a renter on the first try! They saw the house and signed a lease on Wednesday. This is great news--we were worried about whether it would be a difficult process or not and at least one thing seems to have fallen into place. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come!

In other baby news, Mike & Amy had their baby this weekend! Abigail Grace was born this afternoon (4:57, I think?) and weighed in at 6lbs 13 oz. Amy had to have a c-section, but everyone seems to be healthy and happy. Congratulations guys--we can't wait to meet her!

Here are some pics of Babcia and Maya earlier today. Unfortunately, Maya decided that she wasn't going to be a proper photo subject, so only a few came out:

And of course, the obligatory dog picture:

If you haven't visited us in Evanston...

This is what you are missing! (Other than Maya, of course). Our realtor took pictures of our house for the rental listing and it looks so good!

(Wow, I am post-happy tonight!)

I am so sad to leave it..even if it is temporarily..we have some people coming tomorrow to look at it (to rent). Hopefully we won't have too much trouble on that front. Our realtor, who is a friend of the family, decided to do a virtual tour of the house so that it stands out a bit more..

OK..I think Ajax is certifiable..

I mean, what dog hangs out and chews his rawhide like this?

It's not like he was just doing it for a second either..he's still in there like that 20 minutes later!

Some pictures Dziadek took...

Dziadek sent me some pictures that he took last weekend, and I figured I would post a different perspective...

Rolling the other way!

For over a month, Maya has been rolling from tummy to back, with little interest in learning the other way. Well, no longer is she a one-way roller! This morning she's been rolling from back to tummy...Waipo tutored her a bit this weekend in the art of rolling over and she seems to have caught on! Next step: mobility! Yikes...

Solid Foods!

Yesterday, Maya tried solid foods for the first time! "Solid" is a bit of an exaggeration, considering we are talking about a tablespoon of rice stuff mixed with a whole bunch of formula. In any case, it was a success! She seemed to like it..though her initial reaction was definitely a bit weary.

Here are some pics to mark the occasion:

This isn't that bad! And I like to play with my new bib: (PS...me eating made Dziadek hungry too..)

Spoons are cool!

I still look cute and cool with cereal all over my face...

Both Dziadek & Waipo and Papou and Wow were in town this weekend...what a lucky girl to have all these grandparents that love her!

And this is how a Papou holds his 6th grandchild:
